A New Direction

I love my Sisters.

What, Sarah has sisters? Then why is she such a spoiled brat?

My sorority sisters. I adore them. And yes, I am a spoiled brat.

But anyway, I'd been talking to JV the last couple weeks, trying to get something figured out so we could hang out because when I was driving down Greek Row one day and seeing all the banners for Recruitment, I realized just how much I missed being involved in the chapter. I took alum status a semester before I graduated because I knew there was no way I could be active and also give all the attention to my student teaching that I needed to. Some of it also had to do with issues with certain members that I do not wish to discuss in public because those who need to know, do. Two words: Crazy Rachel. Now I'm sure you get it.

Anyway, JV was telling me about a Sisterhood Event for tonight and I had to work but Matt let me go right at nine so I could make it in time, since the event ended at 10. I got to hang out with the girls and meet a ton of new sisters and I was so amazed. When I initiated we had roughly 13 actives, and the chapter was close to closing. There are currently about 58 actives in the Alpha Epsilon chapter here at UNL. I am so proud of them, they worked so hard to get the numbers up and to get the chapter going again. And I miss it. I miss being a part of that. So, I am going to start becoming more active as an alum because it is something that I feel strongly about. A lot of people always say that the Greek System is a bunch of drunks who get their parents to buy friends for them but it's not. It's so much more and people who aren't Greek don't understand. That's not to say that non-Greeks as a whole don't understand, but the ones who bash it without knowing anything about it don't understand. I am proud to be Greek and proud to be an Alpha Delta Pi. I would love to be an advisor eventually, especially now while some of the sisters who were active with me are in leadership positions, because we'd all be able to work together again. Who knows, we'll see what happens :)
